Ribbon Cutting! July 1, 2010
To celebrate the completion of all our start-up
paperwork, final approval of our IRS tax-free status,
initiation of our first fund raising projects, and start of
our first full fiscal year, we held a ribbon cutting at the
LCPS Central Office. Flanked by the Board, James
Smith and Ava Pippin cut the ribbon, as Dr. Pettit rang
the bell!
Stuff the Bus! Month of July and August 7, 2010
The Dollar General Stores of both Louisa and Mineral held a school supplies drive for an entire month
leading up to the start of school 2010, and the Wal-Mart store at Zions Crossroads held a massive
"Stuff the Bus" event on August 7. These events resulted in more than $2,000 worth of school supplies
being turned over to LEF for distribution to all six of the public schools in Louisa County!
Back to School Bingo August 7, 2010
The LEF put on a "Back to School Bingo" on Saturday August 7, 2010 in the Louisa County High
School gym. More than 30 businesses and individuals contributed prizes (see the HONOR ROLL OF
SPONSORS page), and the event produced a net cash income to the Foundation of well over $2,000.
This money will be used for scholarships and for Teacher Creative Instructional Grants in the Louisa
schools.

LEF Celebrates its First Birthday! October 14, 2010
Although IRS approval to begin fundraising operations
came through in July, the paperwork began many months
earlier.  At an October 14 Meeting, Board Members Dr.
Deborah Pettit and Wallace Tingler held up the cake
remembering a year of effort, blew out the candle, and
wished for every success as we enter our second year!
New Scholarships announced! February 3, 2011
Seniors graduating from LCHS in May 2011 will have the opportunity to apply for 2-4 scholarships
offered by LEF, with values from $1,000 to $2,000 each.  Also, LEF will be administering a special
Track Scholarship in the amount of $500, given by a generous anonymous donor to honor track coach
Jerry Cutright.
LEF Golf Classic! Saturday, March 26, 2011
It was a GREAT day for golf. Thanks to our many sponsors and avid golfers. Every dollar raised will go
to scholarships, grants, or our major project!
